Do you live, work, or have traditional territory in the Waterton Biosphere Reserve?
If you live, work, or have traditional territory in the Waterton Biosphere Reserve (i.e. Cardston County, M.D. of Pincher Creek, and Waterton Lakes National Park) we invite you to attend one of our upcoming forums.
Our 2022-2026 Cooperation Plan Forums are free to attend, will be hosted online via Zoom, and registration is required to attend.
With your help, we hope to identify how the Waterton Biosphere Reserve can best support and facilitate our three core functions outlined below. As we address these functions, how can we build our relationship with Indigenous Peoples and respond to a changing climate?
Biodiversity Conservation
What initiatives can we undertake to promote conservation of landscapes, ecosystems, and species?
Sustainable Development
How can we encourage economic and human development that is socially, culturally and environmentally sustainable (meets the needs of the present, without compromising the needs of future generations)?
Capacity Building
How can we improve the ability and potential of our communities to make sound decisions for conservation and sustainable resource use via research, monitoring, education, and information exchange?
The Forum Experience + Process
Through these forums, we want to come to a place where we can write a new Cooperation Plan for 2022-2026 and take action. We will be diving into what you think has worked well, what needs to change, new ideas to try, and any unanswered questions you may have.
Sharing conversation can spark ideas that may not come from filling out a survey. Which is why we value you joining our forums. Share your thoughts and dive deeper into what you see as possible ways forward in building an even better Waterton Biosphere Reserve.
Make a difference and join the conversation. Registration is required to attend – you can register for either date here.
The Cooperation Planning Process
The forums are the second step in our Cooperation Planning process. We will be working on several aspects of the Cooperation Plan between now and July 2022. Refer to the infographic to see a breakdown of what the process has looked like up until now and what you can expect in the weeks and months to come.
There is still time for you to get involved by attending one of our upcoming forums!
