WATERSHED LEGACY PROGRAM<\/h2>\n

The Oldman Watershed Council’s (OWC) Watershed Legacy Program provides the tools necessary for watershed stewardship groups, individual producers, and other land-use cooperatives to take steps toward sustainable land management. By coordinating efforts throughout the basin and providing funding, the WLP aims to conserve and enhance our natural resources and the rural way of life.<\/p>\n

Applications can be submitted annually from December to February and are funded on as a 50-50 cost-share (applicant component can include their own funds, time volunteered, or funding provided by other organizations). OWC staff also provide technical assistance for projects when required. Eligible projects must fall in one or more of the following categories: riparian and creek restoration, invasive species management, wetland restoration and development, nutrient management, land use issues, and water quality.<\/p>\n

Eligible project examples include off-site watering systems, fencing, bioengineering, improved wintering management or relocation of facilities, improved stream crossings, wetland ditch plugs, and water monitoring\/testing.<\/p>\n
